What is Prayer?

In other words, to say what is prayer is to accept the greatness of Allah (swt). It is an expression of both begging, supplicating, and wanting to Him with impotence, giving thanks, praising Him, and offering love and respect. In this state, we can say that prayer is a form of worship in which the servant is in constant communication with his Creator.

In fact, prayer is a blessing, let’s look at it from this point of view, we communicate with our Lord at any time and everywhere and offer our pilgrimage in the most possible way. However, if we consider how difficult it is to reach those who are in worldly positions, especially if they are in high positions, we can better understand how great a blessing prayer is and answer the question of what prayer is.

Why Do We Pray?

Actually, Prayer has two aspects. One is worship and the other is the point of submission of our wishes. Although it seems to us to convey our wishes in the first place, in fact, prayer is a perseverance and secret worship.

Both verses and hadiths command us to pray. There are many texts and narrations on this subject that lead us to prayer. For example, in the 77th verse of Surah Furkan What significance (value) do you have if you do not have prayer?” The verse very clearly invites us to prayer. In another verse, Surah Araf 55-56. The verses invite us to prayer by saying, “Pray to your Lord in secret and in prayer, praying to Him with fear and hope”. It would not be wrong to say that the life of the Prophet (saas) is prayer.

We, weak and weak servants, pray to Him alone, since there is no creator to pray other than Allah (cc) and that Allah is the owner and owner of the universe. We pray for the acceptance of one of our wishes, for the happiness of the hereafter and the world, to get rid of diseases, in short, for all worldly and otherworldly wishes.

Our Lord says in the Qur’an, our holy book, Pray and I will answer. It moves us to pray. Every prayer is answered. But in this world, but also in the hereafter. I prayed, we should not say that it was not accepted. Because prayer is an act of worship and its reward is otherworldly. If he gives here with his mercy, we say that the light will be received.

So prayer is a request. Surely there is an answer. If a child goes to the doctor and says, give me this medicine. The doctor examines him, if the medicine he wants is useful for him, he will not give it, if it is harmful, maybe he will give a better one. Prayers are just like that. God does not say that he will accept it, but he says there is an answer. If that answer is given in this world, or better, given in the hereafter, it will never be in vain.
