Awwabin prayer is a six-rakat supererogatory prayer that is rewarded to be performed between the evening prayer and the night prayer.
What is Awwabin Prayer?
Awwabin is the plural of the word “evvab” and it means one who immediately repent of a sin he has committed and seeks forgiveness.
According to this definition Repentance “Awwabin prayer”, which means the prayer of those who ask for forgiveness and asking forgiveness, is a prayer that is encouraged to be performed by stating that it has many good deeds in many hadiths.
Hz. The Prophet informed that this prayer, which is performed after the evening prayer, will be counted among those who commit a sin but immediately repent, and read the following verse: “Your Lord knows very well what is going on inside of you. If you are righteous, surely Allah forgives those who repent.” (Surah Isra 17/25, Ibn Kathir)
How many rakats is the Awwabin prayer and how is it performed?
This prayer is 6 rak’ahs and can be performed in a single safar or as 2 rak’ahs. In some narrations in hadith books on the subject, there are also reports that our Prophet (saas) performed 4 rak’ahs after the evening prayer. (Source: Heysemi, Mecmeuz Zevaid)

1st rakat
As in all prayers, we start with intention. This intention is as follows; We say, “I intend to perform the awwabin prayer for the sake of Allah”, and we start the prayer by saying “Allahu Akbar”.
We read Subhaneke. We recite the Euzü-besmele, we read Surah Fatiha, we read a chapter from the Qur’an, we go to ruku’ and we stand up by doing the Sajdas.
2. Rakat
We stand up and stand, after the Basmala, we read Surah Fatiha and a chapter from the Qur’an, we go to Ruku and go to the Prostrations and sit down and read the prayer Ettahiyyatu.
3. Rakat
Then we stand up and stand, after the Basmala, we read Surah Fatiha and a chapter from the Qur’an, go to ruku’ and stand up by performing the Prostrations.
4. Rakat

6. Rakat

Then we recite the prayers of Allahumme salli, Bârik and Rabbana in turn and say “Es salamu aleykum ve rahmat’ullah” and complete the prayer by saluting first to the right and then to the left.
Awwabin Prayer Virtue
One of the Companions Ammar b. It is narrated from Yasir (ra) that “Whoever prays six rak’ahs after the evening prayer, Allah will forgive his sins, even if they are as much as the foam of the sea.” (Heysemi, Mecmeu’z-Zevaid)
“After performing the Maghrib prayer, 6 rak’ahs without saying anything worldly prayer If he prays, that prayer (reward) will be equivalent to twelve years of worship.” (Tirmidhi, Salat, 209)
