Verses and hadiths about slander

I hope we will deal with the verses and hadiths about slander. In the dictionary, slander means lying, fabricating and making false accusations.

When we look at the slander in general; It is such an ugly and vile act that it dynamites social life, ends friendships and friendships, prevents establishing a family, destroys established families, causes family disasters, destroys people’s jobs, reputations, futures, causes lives to become dark, it is a bad morality.

While the love and respect between people decreases with slander, the feeling of grudge and hatred increases, and personal and social problems arise.

If we make a definition for slander, it would not be a lie if we say that it is an individual and social disease. As a matter of fact, when we look at the past societies, various slanders were made against many prophets and righteous people, and these people were exposed to many troubles.

For example, about the slander Hz. Yusuf was slandered because he did not accept the illegitimate offer made to him and as a result he was thrown into prison. (Surah Yusuf 23-35) Hz. Moses, St. Mary and St. Many more thanks to our mother Ayşe. to anyone slander has been made.

Verses About Slander

In the 112th verse of the chapter of Nisa, “Whoever commits a mistake (fault) or commits a sin deliberately (knowingly) and throws it on an innocent (innocent) person, he commits a great slander (slander) and a manifest sin.”

In Surah Ahzab verse 58, “Those who persecute believing men and believing women for something they did not do (slander) will certainly bear a clear (heinous) sin.”

In the 19th verse of Surat an-Nur, there is a severe (burning) punishment in this world and in the Hereafter for those who like (desire) the spread of ugly (bad) things among the believers. And Allah knows, and you do not know.” It has been revealed how great a sin is slander, and it is stated that there will be a great punishment in the Hereafter for those who commit this sin.

Surah Nur 4. In the verse, “Those who accuse honest (free) women of adultery (slander) and then fail to bring four witnesses (to prove this), strike eighty sticks (sticks) and never (never) accept their testimony. They are totally sinners”

In Surat an-Nur, Verse 23, “Those who accuse honest, unaware believing women of adultery (those who slander) are cursed in this world and in the Hereafter. And for them there is a (great) torment.”

Surah Nur, Verse 14: “If God’s grace and mercy were not upon you in this world and in the hereafter, you would certainly have suffered a great punishment for this slander!”

Surah Nur, Verse 15: “When you used to spread that slander from tongue to tongue, and put into your mouth words of which you had no knowledge (about) and thought that it was an insignificant thing. However, this is a great sin in the sight of Allah.”

Hadith about slander

Hz. The Prophet (saas) warned everyone about slander and said that slandering is among the rights of the people that will darken the eternal life of a person and lead to bankruptcy. (Muslim)

Our Prophet (saas) said, “Beware of suspicion (doubt, delusion). For, he warned us against slander and slander by saying, “Conjecture is the most false of words.”

If someone says something to a believer that is not true, Allah will put him in Hell until the slandered person forgives him. (Abu Dawud)

A believer can have every trait (disposition). However, treason and lies cannot be.(Ibn Abi Shayba)

Prophet (pbuh) one day “Avoid 7 things that lead to destruction (perish, die)!” said. The Companions asked, “O Messenger of Allah, what are they?” they asked. He (pbuh) replied:

It is associating partners with Allah, doing magic and sorcery, killing a person whose death is forbidden religiously, eating riba (interest), eating the property of orphans, avoiding jihad during war, slandering chaste Muslim women for adultery. (Bukhari)
