What is Accident and Fate?

Destiny In lexicon, it means “to be in moderation, to be in quantity”. Among the people, the terms divine, destiny, fate are also used for staff. In this context, there are also those who call it cruel fate, which can lead a person to disbelief because he states that what Allah has ordained is not just.

Belief in qadar is related to Allah’s attributes of knowledge and will. It means arranging everything, that is, all beings and events, according to a certain order and measure.

Qada, on the other hand, is related to the attributes of power and creation. It is the creation, when the time comes, of the things that Allah willed and decreed in the book of destiny from time immemorial.

Faith in Fate

No and evil

Believing in destiny is one of the important principles of belief. A person cannot accept other principles of faith and say they do not accept fate. Because to say that I do not believe in destiny means not believing that Allah can know everything. In other words, he does not believe in the destiny that Allah knows everything.

Belief in destiny and accident means that Allah knows, wills, wills, power, discretion and creation for good and evil, good and bad, bitter and sweet, everything animate and inanimate, whatever is useful and useless, whatever we do not think of. means.

In other words, Allah knows and appreciates everything that has occurred and will come, and it happens through His creation. In this context, everything has a destiny.

destiny for man faith does not mean a prime coercive. Because Allah, with His eternal knowledge, knows what people will choose with their free will, where and when they will do, that is, with his absolute knowledge that is not limited with time, and according to this knowledge, He wills, wills, and when the time comes, He creates in accordance with the choice made by the servant’s partial will when the time comes.

In this case, we can say that Allah’s knowledge is dependent on the slave’s free will and choice, and the fact that Allah knows everything with the eternal knowledge of knowledge has no compelling effect on the will and choice of the servant.

In fact, in daily life, people are unaware of these and live of their own free will, without being influenced by this information.

To put it another way, we do not do it because Allah knows and determines it. That we will do these things in this way, that we will choose, is known by Allah in an eternal and absolute sense.

For we should know that when creating his servant, Allah has created him as a being who chooses and is responsible for what he chooses. If we say that destiny is compelling, then little willpower will have no meaning in its testing.

Another point that should be known about destiny is that since we are limited by the concepts of time and space, and our abilities, it is not possible for us to fully understand destiny.

In other words, the human mind is not in the power and ability to comprehend the unlimited divine knowledge, will and power, where the dimensions of time and space are not in question, so destiny is only a divine secret.

Destiny and Partial Will

The essential actions that we call Ef’âl-i İztırâriyye, which take place outside of our own will and will, consist entirely of the manifestation of fate and accident.

On the contrary, situations such as being born, dying, sleeping, getting hungry, our body structure, our life span, our gender, our parents, where we will be born are included in this part of destiny. He is not responsible for these acts, as they are subject to their absolute destiny and necessity.

Verbs of choice, which we call Ef’âl-i Ihyariyye, are the actions that we do with our own elders, apart from the ones mentioned above. Allah Almighty has given us a partial and relative will, and the servant is responsible for his actions with this will. That is, if what he has done is good, he will be rewarded, and if it is evil, he will be punished.

Is fate guilty?

Believing in destiny and accident is a basis of belief. People cannot use fate as an excuse to free themselves from responsibility. Someone “What should we do, Allah has written like this, this is my destiny, it is appreciated in this way, what should I do? what’s my fault?” He cannot sin by saying such things.

He cannot commit a sin and then prove himself innocent. If he does, a small will will appear before him. So he can’t use fate as an excuse. This is because these actions were created by Allah in accordance with this choice, because we choose them that way. Think of a horse carriage, you got on, you were asked where, if you ask that mountain, then when you get there, you have no right to say why I came here. Because you were asked. The choice was made and it was brought accordingly.

Verses and Hadiths About Destiny and Accident

The following verses on the subject of belief in destiny are very clear and their meanings are as follows.

“…Everything in His sight is in a measure (quantity)” (Surah Raad, verse 8)

“…God ​​is exalted, the One who created everything and gave it an order and determines its destiny” (Surah Furqan, verse 2)

“Say: Nothing will ever reach us except what Allah has written for us…” (Surah At-Tawba, verse 52).

Is belief in destiny one of the principles of faith?

Abdullah bin Omar (son of Hazrat Umar (ra)) said: My father told me as follows. According to the narration also known as the hadith of Jibril, Hz. Gabriel (as) came to our Prophet (pbuh) in a crowded congregation and asked him “What is faith?”

Hz. The Prophet repliedAllah, his angels, his books, his prophets, the last day, good and bad. to fate is believing. he said. (Muslim, faith 1)

Scholars of Ahl as-Sunnah, the above-mentioned verses and Hz. In terms of the hadiths of the Prophet, it is necessary to believe in this subject. from the fundamentals they said.

Yes, the issue of belief in destiny is one of the principles of faith, and truth and truth are issues. However, it is also important to understand this issue thoroughly and to understand it with the explanations of Ahl as-Sunnah scholars. Otherwise, we are far from the deviated sects in this regard..
